Gstaad

The picturesque and bustling summer and winter resort of Gstaad is famous for its jet set clientele. Guests from all strata of society enjoy the diversity of Gstaad and the neighbouring resorts of the Saanenland Region.
Gstaad at an altitude of 1050 metres belongs to the municipality of Saanen. The traffic- free village centre contributes to the picturesque ambiance. Gstaad has a plethora of luxury hotels, gourmet restaurants, bars, exclusive brand name stores and luxurious chalets, making it one of the top holiday destinations of the international jet set. Stringent planning regulations mean that all buildings are constructed in chalet style in keeping with the resort’s chocolate-box image.

Despite its reputation as a winter playground of the rich and famous, the guest structure in the Saanenland region is eclectic, due to the wide range of tourism and price options available in the neighbouring resorts of Saanen, Schönried, Saanenmöser, Lauenen, Feutersoey, Gsteig etc.

Gstaad hosts many high profile cultural and sports events: the Swiss Open Tennis Tournament, Beach Volleyball Tournament, Polo Tournament, Yehudi Menuhin Music Festival, Country Music Festival are among the most prominent.

SUMMER

The wide open landscape of the Saanenland offers a vast range of sporting and leisure activities: hiking (trail network of over 300km), mountain biking, paragliding and golf. The River Saane is a popular venue for white water rafting and canoeing. The summer sledge run at Schönried, a climbing garden and the picture-perfect Lauenensee are ideal destinations for family excursions. The nature conservation area at the idyllic mountain lake Lauenensee with its waterfalls and high marshland, the narrow alleyways at the historic centre of Saanen and the tranquillity of the fairytale mountain village of Abländschen are other examples of the region’s many attractions.

WINTER

«Mountain Rides» is the name of the Saanenland ski arena, encompassing 60 ski lift installations and over 250km of prepared pistes. The ski regions of Wispile, Eggli and Wasserngrat are in the municipality of Gstaad. The Montreux-Oberland Railways and post buses connect Gstaad with the valley stations of ski lifts in Saanenmöser, Schönried, Zweisimmen, Gsteig, Reusch, Lauenen, Rougement and Château-d’Oex in the neighbouring region of Pays d’Enhaut. It is possible to ski outside of the winter season on the glacier at Les Diablerets. The region also has infrastructure for other winter sports: several sledge runs, 80km of cross-country ski runs for both classic and skating techniques and winter hiking trails.
