Winterwanderweg Riederalp–Fiescheralp

This is a classic route and very popular for good reason: The views of the 4000-meter peaks of the Valais along the way are without parallel. The path leads from Bettmeralp via Wurzenbord up to Bättmer-Hitta. A walk through the winter wonderland takes you to Fiescheralp.
The hike starts at the mountain station of the Riederalp cable car and follows the «Aletsch-Promenade». To the east of the village of Bettmeralp, level with the Hôtel Aletsch, walk along the Möriken holiday camp chalet, then take a right near the Wurzenbord ski lift. You will have to tackle a steep climb towards Wurzenbord, which you will then pass around on the right. The winter hiking trail then makes a sharp turn to the left in the direction of the Bättmer Hitta restaurant. The biggest climb is now behind you.

If you like, you can stop for a well-earned break in the restaurant, which offers delicious Valais specialities in three cosy rooms as well as a sunny terrace. The view of the mountains is magnificent and is ideal for recharging your batteries.

When your energy levels are full again, you can continue your beautiful walk across captivating winter landscapes. From here, the path heads along the Alpine pastures and snow-covered slopes of Martisbergeralp and Laxeralp, and this flat route can be followed to the east until you reach Fiescheralp.
