Ibergeregg-Rundweg
Ibergeregg–Grossenboden–Zwäcken–Ibergeregg
A scenic winter walk in the Mythen Region leading through the unspoilt landscape of a protected moorland. This easy to moderate route takes you through snowy pre-alpine surroundings without any major differences in altitude but with spectacular views of the Mythen mountains.
This winter walk starts at Ibergeregg, which can only be reached by car during the winter. From the pass, the trail first descends 200 metres down to Grossenboden. Here you can take a first break and watch the skiers and snowboarders on the slopes and in the «Mythenpark» freestyle park.
The trail continues slightly uphill towards Müsliegg / Zwäcken, the winter walk’s highest point. The eponymous mountain restaurant is the perfect place for a break. From here, walkers enjoy breath-taking views across the Mythen Region and the surrounding peaks, including the mountains of Muotathal and the so-called Mythen trilogy, consisting of Haggenspitz, Kleiner and Grosser Mythen. If you are lucky, you might spot a chamois or even a deer that has strayed from Switzerland’s oldest no-hunting zone around the two Mythen into the upland moor. The moorland characterizes the entire landscape of the Mythen Region. Its woodland and pastures are fairly flat, making this winter walk suitable for anyone.
The trail’s last section back to Ibergeregg is also relatively flat. Always at your back: the mighty Grosse Mythen. On the way, you may again see the odd skier. And if you are in the mood, you can round off this lovely day in the Mythen Region with a visit to the Restaurant Passhöhe at Ibergeregg.
