Hinter-Höhi-Weg
Amden, Niederschlag–Amden, Niederschlag
In summer and autumn, a popular nature paradise, in winter by far the sunniest winter hiking trail – a hike to the Hinter Höhi is well worth it at any time of the year.
Amden is already known as a sun terrace above the Walensee. The winter hiking trail to Hinter Höhi is even referred to as the «sunniest trail in the region». There is time to wind down on the ride with the Mattstock chairlift towards Walau. On the mountain you will be presented with the most beautiful panoramic view of the Glarner Alps and the Linthebene. From here, the trail leads over the Alp Strichboden past bright groves towards Hinter Höhi.
The Hochmoor can only be seen under thick snow cover. This is also worth a trip in the autumn, when it is alight with the most beautiful colours. Right now white-blue is what's called for. Upon arriving at the Hinter Höhi, winter hikers will have a wonderful view over the Toggenburg and the surrounding nature. The Hinter Höhi forms a mountain saddle between Gulmen and Mattstock. In the summer, the hiking trail continues downhill from the pass to Toggenburg.
On the way back you can make a detour to the Holzstübli restaurant, located just below the trail. A fitting conclusion to this wonderful hike.
