Horneggli-Hornberg-Winterwanderweg

Sunny panoramic winter hiking trail from the Horneggli mountain station around the Horeflue to the Hornberg mountain station. On this hiking trail with views onto the Bernese, Vaudois and Fribourg Alps, several restaurants with sun terraces are an invitation to stop by and relax for a while.
The Horneggli chairlift takes winter hikers onto the marked trail between the Hornberg and Horneggli, Schönrieds’s local mountain. The trail begins in a southwesterly direction and goes around the Horeflue. It is relatively flat and therefore quite easy.

After a gentle short climb the trail crosses a ski slope. This spot on the Gfell alp offers a great view of the Gstaad mountains. Towards the south, it’s easy to see the Giferspitz, the highest point in the municipality of Saanen, as well as the village of Gstaad, and the Diablerets massif in the background. Another gentle climb over open space leads to Uf de Chessle, the highest point on the tour. Shortly thereafter, there are two mountain restaurants with sun terraces. They invite you to stop by and relax and to again enjoy the magnificent panorama: in the east Altels, Doldenhorn and Wildstrubel, followed by the Saanenland mountains and the Diablerets mountain range.

Tip: Up for a bit of action towards the end of this panoramic winter hike? Depending on the goal – the trail can also be walked in the opposite direction – and can be combined with the tobogganing runs «Hornberg Run» or «Horneggli Run».
