Engelstock-Rundweg
Sattel-Hochstuckli, Mostelberg–Mostelegg–Sattel-Hochstuckli, Mostelberg
A revolving gondola, a foot suspension bridge and a spectacular view of the Schwyz basin, the surrounding mountains and lakes – the Engelstock Circuit Trail offers a leisurely hike full of variety.
The outing begins in cinematic style, as hikers take their seats and enjoy the panoramic view towards Morgarten and Lake Ägeri from the world's first revolving gondola lift. This is followed by an equally leisurely hike, as the 150m altitude difference is spread throughout the circuit. From the Mostelberg mountain station, the trail first runs through the family-friendly ski resort. It passes by a megalithic stone gate, crosses a snow-covered forest and continues via Herrenboden to the culmination of the hike: the Mostelegg Pass, with a spectacular view of the Schwyz basin, the mountains and lakes of Central Switzerland and the legendary Mythen peaks.
With the ski resort behind them, hikers have the Alpine foothills all to themselves. The trail alternates between open spaces with panoramic views, forest sections and farmhouses until the circuit around the Engelstock reaches the mountain station once again. Those still hungry for adventure after the peaceful circular hike can take on the formidable Skywalk foot suspension bridge or end their day out with a thrilling toboggan ride down to Sattel.
