Rotenflue-Rundweg
Schwyz, Rotenflue–Schwyz, Rotenflue
Always an experience – the mighty Grosse Mythen and the view straight down to the basin of Schwyz, the area’s main town with its widely scattered settlements. A couple of breezy tips: Watch the paragliders take off from their launch site and let your eyes wander to Einsiedeln’s ski jumps on the way back.
After a short ascent on the Rotenflue gondola, we arrive in the heart of the Mythen Region’s winter walking area high above Schwyz. The circular trail, which is also suitable for seniors and children, starts right at the mountain station.
The walk first leads at a leisurely pace to Alp Rotenfluh. Early on, we stop at a vantage point to take in the sweeping views: Schwyz and Lake Lauerz lie directly below us, with Lake Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus in the background. And the massive Grosse Mythen seems to be within your reach. The sunny trail then leads past the paragliders’ launch site. Once again, spend a little time watching the paragliders take off – it’s well worth it!
On the way back, the bare limestone cliffs of the Grosse Mythen catch our eye. Further afield, Einsiedeln is another fascinating sight, and even the ski jumps are visible. From time to time, a multicoloured paraglider silently glides into sight. After the last steep climb back to the mountain station, stopping at the restaurant and taking in the spectacular views of the Glarner Alps one more time is simply a must.
