Regensberg Weg

The Regensberg Route leads to the «Pearl of Zurich Low Lands» and gently down into the valley of the river Furt. Breathtaking views from breezy heights and pretty places, such as Regensberg and Otelfingen, turn this ridge walk into a real adventure.
The steep climb through gardens and vineyards to Regensberg takes you by a large quarry. The limestone of the eastern Jura ridge contains many fossils and is popular for building stone walls. Enter the little hill town of Regensberg through the former east gate and then visit the courtyard of the Oberburg, surrounded by fine houses that once made up the encircling town wall. The Sodbrunnen is 57 m deep, the round tower, which you can climb, 21 m high.

To the left of the castle, a gate takes you to the Unterburg. You should choose here not the Jurahöhenweg, but rather the Baderweg (Badenerweg), which climbs at first and then takes you through a mostly flat wooded area and down to the Boppelsen hollow. There is a delightful little former schoolhouse with a bell tower at the Dorfplatz.

From the main road you should turn left into the woods. At the outdoor fireplace as you leave the woods you can look down toward Otelfinden and across the Furttal to Hüttikon at the foot of the Altberg. Continue down to Untermühle with its stepped gables and follow the brook by noble half-timbered houses to the Otelfingen station.
