Marbachegg–Kreuzegg Trail
Marbachegg–Gassenegg–Kreuzegg–Marbachegg
On this trail you can enjoy the idyllic landscape and peace, far away from mass tourism. One thing is for sure: you will always see the breathtaking panorama. Between Schibegütsch and Hohgant, the view opens up to the Bernese High Alps with Schreckhorn, Finsteraarhorn and Eiger.
The trail starts on Marbachegg and can be easily reached in ten minutes by gondola from Marbach. From the top station, the tour leads past some charming vacation homes up to Gassenegg. Here, where in the summer time free-living marmots romp around, there is now almost a creepy silence in the winter time.
The path descends past the reservoir and to Lochsitli, the lowest section of the tour. Here, it goes uphill again, passing the farm Wittenfärren on quiet soles. Soon you reach the lookout point Kreuzegg, where you are rewarded with a wonderful view: the unusual face of the Schrattenfluh with the steeply sloping (snow) slopes. From Kreuzegg you can also admire the Bernese Alps towering up into the sky.
Return past the farm to the reservoir and directly to the Marbachegg mountain station, where you pass the ski slope for a short stretch. The tour can be shortened by not turning right at the branch to the reservoir, but hiking directly to Kreuzegg. Either way, the sun terrace of the mountain inn will welcome you back on Marbachegg.
