Alpoglen Trail

Alpoglen Trail

Short and sweet: this short snowshoe tour leads through the pine forest up to Alpoglen with its marvellous view across Lake Sarnen.
The Alpoglen Trail starts at the Mörlialp mountain restaurant at the foot of Giswilerstock. As you walk along the edge of the woods and then through the pine forest you can hear skiers in the distance. But the trail keeps away from the piste, allowing hikers to listen only to the sounds of nature.

After about half an hour you have put the forest section behind you and can enjoy a superb view over Lake Sarnen. With a little patience you may discover chamois here: they often search the steep slopes for food.

The Alpoglen comes into view after a brief crossing. It is located at the Bully Bar, where you can sit in a comfortable deckchair and enjoy the view across Sarnen Valley once again. The trail now heads back downhill in leisurely style, leading to Mörlialp mountain restaurant on the same route.
