Pardiel–Laufböden Trail
Bad Ragaz, Pardiel–Bad Ragaz, Laufböden
The snowshoe trail on Pizol leads above the timber line and offers spectacular views to the Alpine panorama and into the Tectonic Arena Sardona. Thanks to the altitude there is most likely a lot of snow.
The snowshoe trail starts at the mountain station Pardiel, which can be reached with the gondola from Bad Ragaz. The sportive trail leads over Obersäss and See-Egg to Laufböden, through the winter sports region Pizol.
Already a few metres after the start the timber line is crossed. On the entire tour a fascinating sight can be enjoyed: from Grison and Glarus to Liechtenstein and Austrian Alps. Thanks to the height it is assured, that the Alpine landscape can be for sure experienced in wonderful white – and that the snowshoes are not packed for nothing.
The restaurant Laufböden is ideal for a break with its view to the mountain landscape Tectonic Arena Sardona. With this name the Glarus thrust has been included into the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here it is clearly visible, how the rock strata have been ridging and folding during the formation of the Alps. A chairlift leads back to Pardiel.
