Parcours Oudiou
La Comballaz, Les Voëttes–Oudiou–La Comballaz, Les Voëttes
After the start at La Comballaz, the route winds uphill through the lovely forest to Oudiou. Once at the top, the pleasant snowshoe round tour rewards the hikers with magnificent long-distance views towards the Mont Blanc and across to the nearby Ormonts valley.
At the upper end of the village of La Comballaz, just after the bridge, the snowshoe trail starts with a short off-road climb. After crossing a little stream, it dives into the pretty "Forêt de Mimont" which surrounds Oudiou. The quiet, shady forest offers a special kind of refreshment - nature can be observed in peace, time seems to stand still. The forest passage winds gently uphill to the targeted viewpoint in Oudiou.
At an elevation of 1700 metres, the panorama will be enjoyed to the full, weather permitting: the view sweeps to the nearby Ormonts valley, over the idyllic Vaud alps and, if visibility is good, to Europe’s highest peak, the Mont Blanc. An ideal place for a break before the descent.
The way back downhill is slightly different, but crosses the ascent path a few times - you should not lose sight of the exact course of the route from this new perspective. After some more deep and refreshing breaths in the forest, you take the same route back on the last kilometre.
