Chälen-Schlittelbahn

First-rate tobogganing fun: the region's longest toboggan run can be reached on the longest aerial cableway in Central Switzerland – complete with lake view.
Action and a fantastic view: enjoy both in the Klewenalp-Stockhütte snow paradise. The region is beautifully situated among the mountain scenery of Central Switzerland. High above Lake Lucerne, the cross-country view stretches for miles in fine weather.

However, sitting back and enjoying the panorama is not all that easy on the high-speed Chälen Toboggan Run: it is technically demanding and only for the pros. After a walk of about quarter of an hour up to Klewen Chapel and Berggasthaus Tannibüel, the Chälen chairlift takes tobogganists up to the starting point. Those looking for real thrills can hire an airboard for the approximately three-kilometre run and ‘fly’ down the mountain almost literally. The air cushion, which looks like an air mattress that is pointed at the front, can reach speeds of up to 70 kilometres per hour. In fact the world record set by a person from Geneva is 141.7 km/h. And who invented this high-speed conveyance? A man from Central Switzerland of course: Jo Steiner from Zug developed this winter sports device in the 1990s.

All the airboarding and tobogganing action will naturally make you hungry and thirsty. The PANORAMAschneebar with its unique view is the perfect place to relax and bring your adrenaline level down again.
