Country Skate
Frauenfeld–Turbenthal
This slightly undulating skating path takes you over gentle hills and alongside the water. There are views to the Alpsteingebiet and the Zürcher Oberland, as well as picnic sites, swimming spots and public transport connections along the way. Possibility to extend the route as far as Winterthur.
If you are only looking for hiking trails in Thurgau South, you're making a mistake. The TKB Country Skate is not only a local skate route, it also forms an alternative to the 3 Mittelland Skate route. It connects the Murgtal, Wil, the Hinterthurgau and Bichelsee to the national route network from each side. So if you want to avoid urban skating through Winterthur on the national route, you can choose the quieter, more pleasant option over the TKB Country Skate to Turbenthal and leisurely skate through the Tösstal onto the Zürich Oberland.
The TKB Country Skate design involves a simple, flat section between Frauenfeld and Matzingen and then leads into a slightly elevated, contoured terrain in beautiful landscape imagery. It is astounding just how deeply you can see into the Alpstein area from here.
The southern section mostly covers cycle paths, often parallel to roads. It goes without saying that a perfect bathing area awaits in Bichelsee, where you can relax and top up your energy levels with a barbecued sausage followed by a cool dip. Up until Turbenthal, the path then mostly follows a separate cycle path.

A much-welcomed extension of the route should be mentioned here: if you are skating from Turbenthal towards Winterthur, you can look forward to a veritable round trip and take the Mittelland skate route back to Frauenfeld.
