Chemin de l'Aiguille
Champoussin, Frâchette–Pas de Croisette–Le Relais Panoramique–Champoussin, Frâchette
This tour between Champoussin and Les Crosets, in the upper part of the Illiez Valley, ascends to an altitude of 1,800 meters. The pleasant trail offers fantastic views of the Dents du Midi and the Vaud Alps.
The hike starts at the Frâchette refuge, just before Champoussin. You don't hike to the holiday resort but instead take a broad, well-maintained trail over the mountain ridge to Les Crosets and Croix de l'Aiguille. At the intersection of the various snowshoe trails, continue on the main axis straight ahead across the plain.
Soon after, the trail branches off: on the way there, turn right and pass under the Croix de l'Aiguille. Sometimes you can watch paragliders starting from below the summit. The route then continues left to "Pas de Croisette", another intersection of several trails. Shortly afterwards, you reach the tour's highest point, with sweeping views of Dents Blanches and Pointe de l'Au.
Continue on the trail straight ahead to Restaurant "Le Relais Panoramique". Here, high above Les Crosets, you can enjoy a plate of "rösti" on the sun terrace. The rest of the way leads almost entirely downhill. After the switchback, follow the wide, groomed trail down to Crêté Borney. The last section back to your starting point retraces the ascent route.
