Outdoor swimming pool Heiden

Outdoor swimming pool Heiden

Built by engineer Beda Hefti in 1932–1933, the swimming and sunbathing pool was carefully restored almost to its original condition in 1999.
The geometrically shaped swimming pool includes a diving tower. The pool is surrounded by a sunbathing and recreational lawn and is enclosed by walls on three sides. Behind the walls are the entrance building and cubicles. The diving tower is impressive with its railing. The restaurant, featuring the old water tower, is perched on a slope overlooking the diving pool.

Today, the 50-metre pool and two children’s pools are heated via solar absorber mats and via heat produced by a nearby factory. The concrete surfaces, cubicle doors and door frames are painted red, blue and yellow.

Highlights

  • 6 lanes x 50 m
  • Learner’s pool, kiddie pool
  • Springboard 1 m, 3 m and 5 m
  • Water slide, water mushroom in the non-swimmers pool
  • Beach volleyball court, sandpit, children’s swing and climbing tower, boules court, slackline, table tennis tables, tabletop football, garden chess and nine men’s morris
  • Play area, quiet area
  • Sun loungers: lawn
  • Barbecue points
  • Showers, WC facilities, drinking water
  • Restaurant and kiosk (open to the public)
