The Chrüzegg (1265m) is a small pass for hikers going from Toggenburg to the Zürcher Oberland. Exceptionally beautiful views of the Zürichsee and Bodensee lakes as well as the St. Gallen Oberland, Glarus, Central Swiss and Bernese Alps.
As Chrüzegg and its cosy and tradition-rich mountain guesthouse can only be reached on foot, this is a true paradise for hikers. Over 20 hiking routes lead to this wonderful vantage point from diverse points including Wattwil, Liechtensteig, Ricken, Atzmännig, Dietfurt, Mühlrüti etc. with hiking times of around one hour or more.
The mountain guesthouse, newly built in 1998 with a spacious terrace, rooms and dormitory is perfect for hikers, bikers or holiday guests as well as for weddings, family celebrations, company or club events. An associated Alpine dairy processes and markets all the milk produced on the alp.
The Chrüzegg Geoweg (geological trail) with 50 information panels provides an insight into the creation of our landscape: topics are glaciation, floods, rockfalls and volcanic eruptions. The Geoweg can be joined as you choose. Whether at Atzmännig, von Walde, Wattwil, Krinau or Libingen, each uphill path along the Geoweg to Chrüzegg has its own special character.
Chrüzegg is also a goal for ambitious mountain bikers: the 700 metre height difference from Wattwil to Chrüzegg and the varying, sometimes tricky decent are real challenges.
