Haggenegg

The view over the Schwyz basin, Brunnen, Lauerzersee, Lake Lucerne and Rigi from Haggenegg is majestic. The sunny terrace of the mountain inn invites you to relax and enjoy the vista.
The Berggasthaus (mountain inn) at Haggenegg, a restaurant in traditional style with sunny terrace, splendid views, basic room accommodation and dormitory accommodation is situated 7km above Schwyz at the foot of the Kleiner Mythen and centrally located for hiking and skiing. It can be reached via several hiking and mountain bike trails, by car via Schwyz and in winter by skilifts from Brunni (in Alpthal via Einsiedeln).

Summer

Haggenegg is a stage on several hiking routes such as the Schwyzer Panoramaweg from Ibergeregg via Haggenegg to Sternen. The Route of St. James runs from Einsiedeln via Alpthal to Haggenegg and down to Schwyz. Last but not least, Haggenegg is also an ideal place to rest on the E1 European Long Distance Trail from the North Cape to Sicily.

Shorter hikes can be taken to Mostelegg (summer sledging and bouncy castle) or to Alp Zwüschet-Mythen along the flanks of the Kleiner Mythen to Holzegg (mountain terminus of cableway from Brunni).

Winter

Haggenegg has skiing slopes of 8 km in length and belongs to the Brunni-Haggenegg-Holzegg ski region at the foot of the majestic Mythen. The slopes are sunny sunlight early in the morning and both skilift sections access an area of 450 metres altitude. The second, 1350-m-long Nätschberg lift transports passengers to the Haggenegg at around 1500 metres altitude. From there you can look over the sea of fog lying over the Schwyz basin. Also serving the Brunni-Haggenegg-Holzegg ski region are the Brunni skilift and Holzegg skilifts and cableway.

Highlights

  • Berggasthaus Haggenegg – popular mountain inn with spectacular views and overnight accommodation.
  • The ski region Brunni-Haggenegg-Holzegg caters to families and is good value for money.
