Erguël Bike
Saint-Imier–Saint-Imier
This route leads through the upper part of the valley of Saint-Imier in direction of La Chaux-de-Fonds, along the ruins of the castle of Erguël, granting a superb view of the Chasseral on the way back.
After the start in Saint-Imier the path first leads to the famous watch manufacturing company Longines, which recently celebrated its 180th anniversary, and further along the Montagne de l'Envers in the direction of Sonvilier and Renan. The history of this valley is displayed, among others, in the ruins of the castle of Erguël. The route keeps changing between forest and outskirts.
After passing the village of Renan on the way back to Saint-Imier, one can enjoy a beautiful view of the Chasseral with its famous antenna as well as of the eastern part of the valley. After returning it is possible to visit the Tête de Moine cheese dairy, the Espace Noir (cultural exhibits having to do with anarchism), the Espace Découverte Energie, the museum of Saint-Imier and/or the Longines museum.
