Ochsenalp–Tschiertschen
Arosa–Arosa
Great Alpine tour surrounded by fantastic scenery. Along the panorama trail to Ochsenalp with views of the Schanfigg Valley, followed by an exciting downhill run on forest roads to Molinis. The last part is another challenge: before reaching Arosa, there is a good 800 metres in altitude difference to climb.
Starting in Arosa the trail leads towards Ochsenalp along forest roads via Prätschalp all the way to Roten Tritt. The view across the whole Schanfigg valley is breath-taking and requires at least one pit stop to take pictures. Easy downhill runs across widespread alpine meadows to Ochsenalp, where regional products and classic Grisons fare are served in the hut.
The trail carries on in the woods and becomes slightly steeper, yet not harder. Views of untamed nature can be expected at any time all the way down to Tschiertschen. Those who skip the stop at Ochsenalp have an opportunity to taste homemade Grisons products from the Alpine herdsman (AlpenHirt) in Tschiertschen. The tour via the Churer Joch is an alternative trail to Molinis, however only recommended for advanced and experienced riders.
Once arrived in Molinis, a small, charming Schanfigg village, a demanding, never-ending ascent lies ahead. The beautiful trail, mostly in the woods, climbs 800m of altitude difference via Litziürti and the reservoir lake all the way to Arosa. The ones who prefer a more comfortable ending of the tour can also take the Rhaetian Railway from the train station St.Peter/Molinis and enjoy a picturesque train ride back to Arosa.
