Runda Lai
Lenzerheide–Lenzerheide
A lake tour of a different kind: views of the lovely blue Heidsee Lake on almost all the trails, but definitely not a boring ride. Gondolas and Alpine single trails make this a fun tour with technical challenges you won’t soon forget.
Runda Lai is not a lake tour in the classic sense. All the trails around the lake are single trails and - with the help of cable cars and gondolas – at an altitude between 2800 meters and the lake level. The tour begins at the very top of the Parpaner Rothorn, easy to reach by cable car from Lenzerheide. But it would certainly be unwise to head out without first taking a look to enjoy the views of over 1000 peaks. Piz Palü, Piz Bernina and countless lesser-known mountains are soaring into the sky.
Ready to go? Because now it takes concentration as the bikers are dashing off at breakneck speed from Rothorn in the direction of the Parpaner Weisshorn while crossing sparse Alpine terrain. A single trail descends the scree-covered slope with some sharp rocks. Through the Galerie to the Gredigs Fürggli there is time to catch one’s breath. Shortly thereafter, the route changes to a fantastic single trail, built especially for mountain bikes. The trails passing Alp Motta and heading down to Parpan couldn’t be more different: some are typically Alpine, followed by forest sections full of roots, but all have one thing in common: Heidsee Lake is almost always in view.
Back down in the valley even the traverse to Churwalden along Stettliwald forest is a flowing trail. The gondola takes the bikers back up to Heidbüel. During the rest of the ride the valley and the lake are almost always visible. An exciting mix of Alpine roads and single trails leads from Stätzertäli via Spoina directly to the lake and back to the starting point.
