Grenchen Bike
Grenchen, Chappeli–Grenchen, Chappeli
The Jurasüdfuss region is always good for a surprise. A first-class mountain bike tour is hidden in the unassuming forests of Grenchen. It features a flowing single trail and is suitable for seasoned bikers and amateur riders alike.
The round trip starts at Restaurant Chappeli near the Allerheiligen chapel, just above Grenchen. This point offers spectacular panoramic views of Grenchen, the Witi nature conservation area and the Mittelland region. The Chappeli is also known as a place of power, so it’s time to recharge your batteries for the forthcoming tour.
The section to Holzerhütte is ideal to warm up, climbing on small forest roads up to an intersection at 690 meters. Where Grenchenberg now becomes considerably steeper, we follow a magnificent single trail back in the direction of Allerheiligen. You rarely see hikers here, but a lot of small cairns stand guard along the trail.
Later you continue the way you came for a short distance, but then you keep climbing to above Romont where you reach a clearing, the highest point of the route. A pleasant single trail runs along the edge of the woods and later descends through the Lengnau forest. This is the grand finale of the short but fun route – short and sweet, as they say. And since the route is not too long for once, you have more time to visit the restaurant afterwards. And – wouldn’t you know it – the tour ends near Restaurant Chappeli. Cheers!
