Alp Fursch Bike
Flums–Flums
An interesting day trip that takes you amid the magnificent mountainous Alpine landscape at the Flumserberg, and that is topped off with an exciting descent through the beautiful Schils Valley.
To the west of the starting point of Flums tower the Gräpplang castle ruins. This route takes you past the ruins and along a little travelled B-road across the hamlet of Fäsch to Bergheim. Then follow the mountain road to Tannenheim before finally turning left towards Cafrida. You have now reached the Flumserberg ski and hiking region.
At Cafrida, follow the unmade path that later merges into the mountain road to Prodalp. Prodalp plateau, with its stunning upland moor, offers glorious views of the Sarganserland and the Churfirsten Mountains. The mountain restaurant has a large sun terrace and is perfect for a stopover before cycling on the forest road towards Panüöl.
In Panüöl an impressive mountain panorama opens up, whilst the onward journey to Alp Fursch is a true pleasure. The subsequent downhill ride through the Furschwald is demanding, especially during wet conditions. Carry on along the Schilsbach, which you cross at Bildbrugg. A forest trail then takes you to Portels and back to Flums.
