Unterland Bike
Altdorf (Bahnhof)–Altdorf (Bahnhof)
Discover the multi faceted holiday region of Uri: from islands in the lake of Uri, to Altdorf with its Mediterranean touch, and onwards to great views set in the home of William Tell. This route is also an ideal starting point for other bike routes.
From the Altdorf train station bike north to Wild Ried and subsequently head west on a field path to Unterdorf. A visit to the picturesque castle A Pro and the mineral exhibition there can be recommended, as well as an additional detour along the lake of Uri. The swimming islands «Lorelei» offer a refreshing dip with Caribbean feeling.
By biking through Bodenwald above Seedorf, an attractive local recreation area, you reach Attinghausen. Onwards to Schattdorf, you have to conquer the first heavy ascending slope through the Bannwald. After a short descent you will then reach Bürglen, the home town of our national hero William Tell. A visit to the Tell Museum is definitely worthwhile. Through the cool tunnel Spiss you reach the hamlet of Bittleten, which is on the sunny side above Bürglen and which is also the highest point of your bike tour. Afterwards you branch off through the Bannwald of Altdorf and at the restaurant Nussbäumli you can enjoy the fantastic view over the valley Uri. Next you bike along to Gruonbach in Flüelen with varying ascents and descents. From there you can roll along roads and field paths back to the starting point.

Hints
Tours with an e-mountain bike
The tourism organisations had these routes registered specifically as e-mountain bike routes. Technically, they are not too difficult, no passages where the bike has to be carried, short sections where it needs to be pushed, and doable with one battery charge (max. 1000 -1200 m altitude difference).
