Tour within the Braunwald-Klausenpass holiday region and car-free Braunwald, offering unspoiled scenery and fresh mountain air. The views are spectacular as far as the eye can see - and whenever you need to stop for a breather.
At the starting point in Linthal the route begins on a paved road leading to Alp Fritern with grades of up to 20%. A challenging ride on a gravel road takes you up to 1599 m, the highest point of the tour. This is followed by a steep downhill section to Restaurant Nussbüel. From Nüssbüel to Braunwald the trail continues through green forests, past old farmhouses with views of Ortstock and Tödi mountains.

The trail leads through the widely scattered village of Braunwald to Braunwaldalp-Unterstafel and passing blooming summer fields and alpine herders. At Bächialp you can quench your thirst and taste a piece of freshly made alpine cheese, before heading for a fast ride down the steep, but excellent mountain road. Through the woods offering views of the valley floor, the trail continues to Schwanden.

Hints

Tours with an e-mountain bike
The tourism organisations had these routes registered specifically as e-mountain bike routes. Technically, they are not too difficult, no passages where the bike has to be carried, short sections where it needs to be pushed, and doable with one battery charge (max. 1000 -1200 m altitude difference). Details about e-mountain biking are available at
www.braunwald.ch
Tours with an e-mountain bike
In combination with Cycling in Switzerland route no. 4 the e-mountain bike route is featured as «Panorama Tour Braunwald – Grosstal».
