Trans-Altarezia Bike

From Sur En, the route leads through a gorge full of variety. The highlight of the route is the spectacular Val d’Uina cliff trail, notorious among bikers. Over the Sesvenna Pass on Italian soil you reach Schlinigertal and finally enter the Val Müstair with its stage stop, Sta. Maria.
A narrow path runs right through a gigantic rock ledge. The picture is world famous and generally shows Val d’Uina. But it takes effort to get to this spectacular place. From Scuol you initially pedal down to Sur-En, turn right and work your way up a steep gravel path through the narrow valley.

After passing Alp Uina Dadaint, the road turns into a trail. A little bit further up, you are standing in front of the impressive cliff with an even more exciting path going right through the middle of it. On this section the bike should be walked. Anything else would be too dangerous.

After the rocky passage, you can get back in the saddle and ride the last section up to Schlinig Pass. On the South Tyrolian side begins a brisk downhill passage through the Schlinig Valley. One last struggle is coming up: another 400 meters ascent high into Val Müstair to reach Sta. Maria, the next destination.
