Morschach
Morschach is a village of scenic views. It nestles on a sunny terrace 200 metres above the Vierwaldstättersee lake, on rocky slopes laced by hedges and woodland.
The village of Morschach in Central Switzerland has fewer than 1000 inhabitants and lies at 650 m altitude on the steep eastern slopes of the Urnersee lake. The village is famous for its fantastic scenic location: far below the blue lake glistens, on the opposite shore, the historic Rütli-Wiese meadow, where Switzerland was founded. The Alpine gallery stretches from the mighty Uri-Rotstock group to Mount Pilatus, the Rigi-Hochfluh and on to the Mythen.
An aerial cableway brings you from Morschach up to car-free Stoos (1300 m altitude), from where two chairlifts access the summit of the Fronalpstock (1921 m). With its spectacular vantage points and mysterious power spots, the Morschach area is seventh heaven for hikers. The Swiss Holiday Park in Morschach, with its impressive bathing landscape, is the largest holiday and leisure park of its kind in Switzerland and offers a wide range of sport and activities.
Summer
The palette ranges from easy family walks to demanding all-day mountain tours. Plenty of sightseeing attractions along the way including the Druid stone, an enormous boulder in the Steingletschergarten, as well as several small chapels and the Lourdes Grotto.
Winter
35 km of skiing and snowboarding pistes starting on the summit of Fronalpstock and Klingenstock, cross-country ski runs, sledge runs, winter-walking trails, horse-drawn sleigh rides and sunny terraces. Something for everyone.
