The Berghaus Malbun is an inviting excursion restaurant with sun terrace and wonderful panoramic views over the Rhine Valley. Located above Buchs, at 1369 m altitude, on the west slope of the St. Galler Rheintal, in the middle of the Buchserberg hiking region.
Malbun is an alp belonging to the municipal district of Buchs SG. Behind a high mountain ridge, at an altitude of 1600 metres lies an attractive still untouched natural world as well as a ski region. A visit to the falconry is an exciting adventure. Visitors value the tranquillity and scenic setting of this cosy mountain inn with its several guest rooms, a dormitory and large car park. In summer, the Berghaus Malbun is the departure and end point for various mountain and biking tours. Visits to an Alpine dairy with the sale of dairy products are available during the alp season.
The Berghaus is a popular stage stop on the Rheintaler Höhenweg. The high-level trail leads in several one-day stages from Rorschach via the Rhine Valley, Obertoggenburg and Werdenberg to Sargans, a total of 105 km. Hikers interested in culture and history will be in their element on this route as the trail passes many historic castles and fortresses. The Berghaus Malbun is on the final stage from Toggenburg (Wildhaus) to Sargans.
