Rüttihubelbad Sensorium

Rüttihubelbad Sensorium

At the Rüttihubelbad Sensorium, the focus is on exercising your senses. The numerous interactive stations provide a fun way for you to hear, see, smell and taste different things – some familiar and some new.
In the words of Hugo Kükelhaus, who is credited with the idea of the sensorium, the visitor learns «how the eye sees, the ear hears, the nose smells, the skin feels, the fingers touch, the foot recognizes the ground, the hand recognizes objects, the brain thinks, the lungs breathe, the blood pulses, and the body moves».

This «field of experience for the senses» offers a rich variety of practical links to your own way of life, school, teaching and research. It opens deeper insight into the connection between man and nature, thus contributing to a broader understanding of environmental education. In this sense, the impact of the Rüttihubelbad Sensorium extends beyond the scope of the exhibition itself.

The many interactive elements include visual phenomena on rotating disks; various smells on the «tree of scents»; sounds and their vibrations that can be felt through rocks, wood and large gongs; and a double swing that lets you experience active cooperation.
