Grisons Museum of Fine Arts
The Grisons Art Society began building up its art collection in 1900. Today it is the responsibility of the Grisons Art Foundation to acquire specific works of art for the Grisons Museum of Fine Arts.
The collection now includes about 9,000 works from all areas of fine art from the mid-eighteenth century to the present. Some of these are on permanent display at the Villa Planta.
These predominantly consist of works by Grisons and Swiss artists. Through extensive groups of works, the artists Angelika Kauffmann, Giovanni Segantini, Augusto Giacometti, Giovanni Giacometti, Alberto Giacometti, Ferdinand Hodler, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the exponents of the «Rot-Blau» group and contemporary artists from the Grisons such as Matias Spescha, Not Vital, Elizabeth Arpagaus and Pascale Wiedemann are represented.
Approximately six exhibitions are held in the Sulser building every year. In addition to showing historical and contemporary Grisons artists, there are always retrospectives of prominent Swiss artists and at regular intervals also exhibitions of international contemporary art.
