Eschnerberg-Höhenweg

The historical path starting in chellenberg takes you past the cradle of Liechtenstein and to the prehistoric settlement of the Lutzegütle and Malanser. In addition to the historical review, the far-reaching view in the direction of the Alpstein is just as enticing.
The center of the town Schellenberg consists of the new church, that was built and listed as protected in 1963, the post office, Town hall, school, the convent of the sisters from Kostbaren Blut as well as the Biedermannhaus, which is a farmhouse built in the 16th century that offers you an insight to the traditional farming culture of the 1900's (the oldest house in Liechtenstein) and is an exhibit of the National Museum Vaduz.

The path was made between 1972-1975 and runs on both sides of the entire ridge along the Eschnerberg passing archeological and historical sites. There are information boards along the path to tell you about the archeological finds out of the 5 «Unterland» (lowland) communities history with field names, and legends as well as natural historical events.

The path takes you through quiet forests back to Schellenberg from where you can see the beautiful view of the Rhine valley, the Rätikon mountains, the Alvier mountain range and the Alpstein. This hiking path has a special charm each season of the year.
