Zürcher Weinland Weg

Through the wine country of the river Thur to the sunny slopes of Cholfirst. During this varied hike from the village of Andelfingen to the village of Dachsen, morainic hills with unique views and fertile wine land are discovered on foot.
After crossing the Thur, follow the river to the left for a kilometer, then turn off to the steep hillside vineyard «Steig», west of the Shiterberg. You'll traverse a wooded area with a variety of trees and then, in Oerlingen, you'll cross the A4 and a fertile plain along the Niderbach. Continue between moraine hills to Rudolfingen, a fine example of a farming village at the foot of the Cholfirst.

At the edge of the hillside vineyard you'll climb steeply and then pass through small-scale countryside to the isolated village of Wildensbuch. North of Wildensbach a lookout tower has been built on the Hochwacht, from which you'll get splendid panoramic views. Passing the old schoolhouse with its little clock tower, you'll find yourself above the Benken vineyards on a path with magnificent views. Stopping in the well-known Geggeeren restaurant, you can look out over the countryside of fertile vineyards to Irchel and Lägeren. In clear weather, even the Alps can be seen to the southwest.

The next part of the route takes you gradually downhill along the edge of the woods to Anderbach and then to the fine half-timbered houses of the village of Dachsen.
