Braunwald Panoramaweg
Braunwald (Grotzenbüel)–Braunwald (Grotzenbüel)
The panoramic Braunwald path proposes a unique hiking experience by which you never lose sight of the mountains; although there’s a good chance you may be distracted by the beauty of Alpine flowers and the plant world.
Views over the southern part of the Glanerland with characteristic Ortstock and Tödi mountains never fail to impress. From Grotzenbüel, a slight approx. 55 minute descent leads to Chnügrat; from where you enjoy beautiful views over the Oberblegisee and Glarner Alps. From Chnügrat an approx. 20 minute hike then leads to the Seblengrat, which lies at the same altitude, and from here the scenic hike continues to Gumen.
Gumen not only offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Tödi and Ortstock mountains, but in addition fascinating plant world. And with a little luck you may even see many marmots. With slight descent via Ortsockhaus, the path then leads back to Grotzenbüel.
Whether by coffee and cake in a quaint mountain restaurant, grilling on one of the open fireplaces, or a visit to the fairytale setting of the Zwäärg Baartli; this panoramic hike promises stunning scenery and plenty of places to take an enjoyable break.
