Seeuferweg Hallwilersee
Mosen–Mosen
This relaxing route along the magnificent, largely undeveloped shores of Lake Hallwil features many fascinating highlights: for example, the Hallwyl Castle, a stilt house as well as many other possibilities for taking a break or a refreshing swim.
The hike begins in Mosen, at the south end of Lake Hallwil. Much of the lakeshore has remained undeveloped and thus offers an ideal recreation area for hikers and walkers with the intact flora and fauna of the Seetal region. The tour takes about five hours, with most of the trail directly on the lakeshore. Diverse boat piers offer the possibility of shortening the hike.
The trail circles back after roughly halfway – marked as «Seeuferweg» (lakeshore trail) – at the north end of the lake, leading past the Hallwyl castle in Seengen. It is surrounded by the Aabach River, and a visit is a must when the drawbridge is lowered. This is the most charming moated castle in all of Switzerland, offering a lovely courtyard, café and tour through the castle.
Heading south on the trail, there is a reconstruction of a house on stilts in Seengen. As you return along the lakeshore to the starting point in Mosen, there are numerous swimming areas and grill sites – a perfect way to round off the hike around Lake Hallwil.
