Bruderholzweg
Basel, Bruderholzspital–Basel, Bruderholzspital
The starting point of this route is the cantonal hospital Baselland Bruderholz near the city of Basel. The Bruderholzweg leads up to a hill between two valleys. In a relaxing nature reserve, it offers a pleasant change from city hustle and bustle.
The Bruderholzweg is a very easy route thanks to its good, continuously surfaced roads. It takes you from the outlying suburb of Basel directly into peaceful, agricultural surroundings. The sense of being close to the city quickly vanishes.
You pass extensive areas of farmland and look over wide, blossoming fields. As the route is on a hill between two valleys, the horizon seems close enough to touch. Isolated gnarled fruit trees stand in lush meadows and the square, perfectly arranged fields provide a changing patchwork of colour.
Park benches at the side of the path invite you to take a break and enjoy the views. The stretch is above all surprising for the sudden tranquillity that lets you forget how close you are to the city. The perfect place for relaxation. Every once in a while an arriving aircraft reminds you that you are actually close to the EuroAirport. The route is circular and ends back at the starting point at hospital Bruderholz.
