Bielersee Heidenweg

The hike over the Jolimont and Heidenweg path comprises diverse attractions. Colourful, mixed woods, prehistoric place of worship and spectacular viewpoints.
You reach the Jolimont following a short climb in Gampelen. The way then leads direction Tüfelsburdi - to the most significant group of boulders in the Erlach region. Research work reveals an old place of worship, in the surroundings of which numerous hollowed-out stones are found.

Erlach Castle together with the Petersinsel (island) in the background is a magnificent picture. Erlach`s old town nestles terrace-like on the caste hill that falls steeply towards the lake – and the picturesque alleyways in Erlach propose delightful strolls.

The Heidenweg path leads hikers along a unique headland - through a paradise of reeds and marshland, homeland to a variety of wildlife and flora - to the St. Petersinsel (island). And those who wish to delve even deeper into the secrets of nature should be sure not to miss the impressive, special nature trail. The Heidenweg path ends at the famous Kloster Restaurant inside the walls of which J.J. Rousseau once settled. His room can be viewed.
