ViaSurprise

You will feel the power and beauty of nature when you explore the Solothurn and Basel Jura Mountains, and marvel again and again at the amazing sights along this 6-day round trip.
The route leads from the train station at Dornach-Arlesheim past Arlesheim Cathedral with views of the impressive Goetheanum in the Ermitage, the largest English-style landscape park in Switzerland. Via the Gempen Plateau, the route continues to Seewen and the Swiss Museum of Music Automatons. By way of Reigoldswil, a village known for its passementerie (garment trimming) tradition, you can ascend the Wasserfallen, Basel's local mountain, on foot or by cableway gondola.

Die ViaSurprise continues alongside Thal Nature park past wonderful vantage points such as Vogelberg and Hohe Winde to Beinwil Abbey, a place of silence and encounter. From here, the trail winds its way through the Chaltbrunnental valley with its prehistoric caves and landscape traces to Zwingen. A pilgrims' path leads to Mariastein Abbey and its cave chapel that attracts believers from all over the world. The circular route runs through the Chälengraben gorge and over the beautiful Blauenberg back to Dornach.

You will encounter surprises large and small on the ViaSurprise, as you roam through valleys and take in the magnificent views from nearby summits. Hike through forgotten gorges and enjoy the tranquillity of the forests and Jura peaks. You might even discover a new side to yourself as you explore.
