Wysswasser-Weg
Fiesch–Fieschertal
An excursion from Fiesch to the Fieschertal - always alongside the lively Wysswasser river - is the purest of natural experiences. Here the mountain landscape of the Valais is presented at it's best. It's impossible to do anything but relax and enjoy it.
From Fiesch, the wonderfully peaceful route leads towards the Fieschertal. Having reached the banks of the Wysswasser glacier stream, you find yourself in the midst of a fertile, lush natural world. The green valley, framed by the magnificent Valais mountains, is reminiscent of an idyllic Swiss postcard. The view is dominated by the imposing Eggishorn, which is particularly popular with paragliders.
The banks of the Wysswasser are densely vegetated, with cotton grass, bushes and a remarkable variety of plants and trees. In places the glacier stream is shallow and murmuring, in others a wild, foaming torrent as it cascades over boulders. The banks of the Wysswasser have been built up with large stone blocks to prevent flooding.
This is an easy path with many tranquil spots along the way to rest and relax. The flower-dappled meadows and extensive fields appear unending, seeming to merge with the mountain slopes on the horizon. In Fieschertal you can round off this wonderful excursion with some fine refreshment.
