Promenade du 100ème
Crans-Montana–Montana (Aminona)
Originally a hunter's favourite spot. Suddenly, gunshot. Today, a world famous tourist resort. Golf, skiing, events, sanatoriums. Uncover the history of Crans-Montana by taking this path created for the 100th anniversary of the resort in 1993.
Depart from Crans and its Severiano Ballesteros golf course, the most beautiful Alpine course. Stroll the shopping streets with their luxury boutiques, local produce and sports shops. Crossing the resort towards Montana you are guided towards Lake Grenon and the Parc hill, where you’ll see the resort’s first hotel.
Arriving in Montana, try your chance at the casino or let your spirit wander in the Ycoor gardens, a magnificent oasis of tranquility in the heart of the resort where the New Zealand writer Katherine Mansfield regularly came to recharge her batteries. Then your path passes by old sanatoriums which contributed to the economic development and renown of the resort.
The history continues at the bottom of the Nationale piste, the famous stage for the Alpine skiing world championships. These took place in 1987, the golden era of Swiss skiing, with its heroes Pirmin Zurbriggen, Peter Müller and Erika Hess, to name but a few. Unforgettable moments to (re)live during this walk which is accessible to all.
