Entre Arve et Rhône

Entre Arve et Rhône

An outing to the magnificent Genevan countryside through the vineyards between the Arve and Rhône rivers. From La Plaine, you pass through the villages of Avully, Avusy, Sézegnin, Soral, Laconnex, Lully and Bardonnex to reach La Croix-de-Rozon.
Start your itinerary by crossing the Rhône and walking up a slight slope towards Avully. After two to three hours walking, you reach one of the westernmost points of the country. Between Avusy and Soral, the road follows the French-Swiss border and heads towards Laconnex and Sézenove.

Further along the road at Signal de Bernex, at the canton's second-highest viewpoint (506 m above sea level), you can admire the Nations' Vineyard (property of the Canton and Republic of Geneva). Each year's vintage is dedicated to an international organisation. At the heart of the vineyard in the village of Lully, visit the Maison du Terroir where the products of the region are displayed.

Along the trail, there are two dozen information points describing grape varieties and winemaking techniques. At several estates and restaurants known as Ambassadeurs du Terroir, hikers are invited to taste the wine and the local products.
