Gambarogno Botanical Gardens
The botanical gardens of the Gambarogno cover an area of 17'000 square metres and are situated on a promontory with an enchanting panoramic view.
In 1955 the nursery founder Otto Eisehut began creating botanical gardens with the world's largest collection of magnolias (including the exceptional yellow magnolia).
His is one of the richest collections of camellias on the entire European continent. Numerous species and types of azaleas, rhododendrons, wisterias, peonies and dogwoods can be admired.
Following pleasant paths you can see a thousand varieties of camellias and some hundred varieties of magnolias, azaleas and rhododendrons, as well as peonies and wisteria, all inserted into the green of pines, junipers, hedera and exotic trees rare in Europe.
