In the Footsteps of Visionaries
The Jura Vaudois Nature Park exists since 2010 and owes its origin to the far-sightedness of mountain meadow owners and to Pro Natura, who had already paved the way for a park forty years ago. The park had actually been founded in 1973 with the objective of maintaining the traditional cultural landscape by supporting the conventional agriculture and forestry management.
Roam through this rich and peaceful landscape
The Jura Vaudois hills are characterised by pastured woodlands lying in large forests. These landscapes are home to important species and habitats. You might even see the rare European adder or the shy wood grouse!
Dive into an unknown world
The Jura Vaudois Park has been offering numerous nature excursions for 15 years. School classes or companies can observe the largest colony of wood ants in Europe. Visit one of the mountain meadows and learn many facts about rural architecture from an expert. Is that a spruce or a pine? In the Risoud forest, you will learn to tell the difference.
Sample the regional specialities
The mountain meadows produce the «gold» of the region: the «alpine pasture Gruyere». Discover the production of AOC-labelled specialities in no less than 18 alpine dairies in the Jura Vaudois. In the Vallée de Joux region, you can taste another cheese speciality, the Vacherin Mont d'Or. Or you can take home a piece of this delicious AOC product in its high-quality wooden packaging from the Jura forests.
