Segantini Museum
Segantini's Alpine Triptych «Life - Nature - Death» never fails to impress in St Moritz, not least for being one of the last turn-of-the-century programmatic paintings.
Giovanni Segantini, great innovator of Alpine painting and celebrated symbolist, spent his last years in the Engadine. Some of his most important works were created here.
The Segantini Museum, built in 1908 as a kind of memorial to the great painter, makes it possible to have a comprehensive encounter with this artist's work. In addition to the Alpine Triptychon, works from his early period in Brianza and paintings and drawings of Segantini's stay in Savognin as well as of his years in the Engadine can be viewed here - including the famous «Ave Maria at the Crossing».
The Segantini museum also has a series of temporary exhibitions that are presented in random order: «Back Home - Otto Fischbacher Giovanni Segantini Foundation» (2001), «Giovanni Segantini: Ave Maria - Idyll, Silent Prayer and Symbol» (2004), «Segantini's Maiden: Muse and Model» (2008).
