Sur les traces des dinosaures
Porrentruy–Porrentruy
A sportive bike tour of 56 km along the history and prehistory in the Ajoie. The route follows the French-Swiss border and offers a great variety of interesting discoveries and sites along the way.
Already in Porrentruy, where the trip begins and ends, there are several sites to visit, i.e. the museums, the botanical garden, or the secret circuit in the old part of town. On the way to Réclère, the theme trail «Tracking the Dinosaurs» of Jurassica is worth a visit. It explains many interesting details about the giants which lived here some 160 million years ago. After passing through Chevenez, renowned for its St. Martin's festival, a visit of the grottos and the Préhisto Park of Réclère is highly recommended.
The route to Grandfontaine with its agricultural museum «Les Vieilles Traditions» takes you through expanses of farmland. After Fahy, and crossing the border at Bure, you will cycle to several lovely French villages such as Saint-Dizier-l'Evêque with its interesting «Pierre des fous», and the picturesque historic village of Delle. Back in Switzerland, the bison park in Boncourt is worth a visit. Return to Porrentruy along the meanders of the Allaine river.
