Kulinarische Appenzeller Route
Appenzell–Haslen–Urnäsch–Appenzell
This tour offers Appenzell hospitality, delicacies and unique views over typical alpine landscapes. You'll be tempted by a carefully selected menu that you can enjoy at a single location - or course by course at different restaurants.
You begin your bike tour in the picturesque little town of Appenzell. For a short while you are accompanied on your journey by the Sitter river before setting out between green meadows and past Appenzell farmhouses to Eggerstanden, where you can expect a warm welcome at the first Gasthaus. The route then continues to Sammelplatz from where you have views over Gais and Appenzell. Take time to recover during the airy descent.
In Schlatt you'll have deserved a break after the steep climb. Here you can enjoy a range of culinary delicacies and outstanding views. Even if you're tempted, don't go too fast on the descent to Haslen via Leimensteig otherwise you'll miss out on the magificent scenery.
In Stein you can recharge your batteries in the Demonstration Cheese Dairy. From there via Hundwil, you reach the traditional village of Urnäsch and then along winding roads to Jakobsbd at the foot of the Kronberg. From Gonten it's then a steady gentle descent.
