Säntisloipe Rietbad
Ennetbühl, Rietbad–Seeben–Weid–Ennetbühl, Rietbad
The Säntis cross-country ski trail is one of the most snow-sure cross-country trails in the area. It meanders through a varied, unique landscape at the foot of the Säntis Mountain, following the path of the Luteren stream.
The Säntis cross-country trail starts next to the Rietbad Postbus stop and the cross-country skiing car park. From this very point, it opens up magnificent views of the Säntis, Silberplatten, Stöllen and Lütispitz mountains, which are bathed in an orange glow when the afternoon sun shines on the rocks.
The trail initially runs through flat terrain, following the course of the Luteren stream. At Seeben it crosses this tributary of the River Thur. Those who fancy a few exciting climbs and downhill runs can take the additional Bruederschwendi loop. This side loop is only suitable for advanced skiers. On this section of the trail, some of which leads through sparse forest, you can relish untouched nature and the tranquillity at the foot of the Säntis Mountain.
If you prefer a more leisurely outing, turn around before this part and return to Rietbad along the other side of the river. Past several barns and traditional Toggenburg houses, you glide via Boden towards Laui. This segment of the trail is very sunny and suitable for beginners. Back at the starting point, you can enjoy refreshments with like-minded people on the sun terrace in the Loipenkafi café.
