Piste de la Grande Borne

Piste de la Grande Borne

This moderately difficult trail takes you through forests and pastures, in the heart of the Plateau des Granges and the protected area of the Mouille de La Vraconnaz. Starts and ends at the Hôtel-restaurant de La Grand’Borne.
A few hundred metres from the French-Swiss border, this trail takes you through the Auberson Nordic Centre and across the Plateau des Granges, famed for its vast expanses of snow-covered pines. The start and end point of this trail, the Hôtel-restaurant de La Grand’Borne, straddling the French-Swiss border, offers a warm welcome. The hotel has been completely renovated and the restaurant offers a tasty menu of specialities made from local produce.

Along the way, skiers will be impressed by the unique view of the hidden face of the Chasseron (1,607m). This route skirts the Mouille de la Vraconnaz nature reserve, which is one of the last peat lands in the Canton of Vaud. This very varied route with its landscape of forests and pastures, as well as its climbs and descents, wakes up your senses and is a great way to recharge your batteries. You can stop along the way in the Combette Verte forest hut, built using wood from the surrounding forest which is known for its high quality.
