Rinderalp-Loipe

Escape the fog: cross-country skiing run for beginners on Mörlialp, high above Lake Sarnen.
Mörlialp lies in the heart of Switzerland within the municipal boundaries of Giswil in the canton of Obwalden. Small but oh so fine – this winter paradise high above the Sarneraatal Valley and Lake Sarnen. The mini ski resort is manageable and family friendly, situated in beautiful natural surroundings and yet easily accessible without a cable car.
The short cross-country skiing trail in the foothills of Mt. Giswilerstock starts at 1,300 metres above sea level. Thanks to its high altitude, it is usually bathed in sunshine above the fog line. The easy circular trail starts at the Mörlialp ski school and consists of two loops. It leads to Rinderalp and back again across meadowlands, alternating between slight descents and slight climbs.
Since the cross-country skiing trail is short and only features a small cumulative elevation gain, it is very suitable for beginners. When you take a well-earned break, you can take in the panoramic views extending down into the valley which is home to the River Sarneraa.
