Isel-Loipe

Waterfalls, forests and the Welschtobelbach: The Isel-track a bit below Arosa first leads along a lake and then dives through snow covered conifer forests into the wild valley Welschtobel.
The Isel-track starts a bit below the village and first leads along the southern bank of the artificial lake. The thrree creeks Furggabach, Furggaalpbach and the Plessur flow into the lake, which is situated in the forest Schiesshornwald. The Plessur, in which trouts can be found, also leaves the lake on the other end. The tracks make two big turns through forest Iselwald, where mainly mountain Pines can be found. The area is surrounded by the Arosa Dolomites, which originally evolved from a subtropical beach.

After a short passage along the stream Welschtobelbach, you can catch a glimps on the Altein Waterfall with its total hight of 73 m. A climb leads into the Welschtobel – a product of erosions, which happened about 30 million years ago. At the turning point of the tracks, the creek has to be crossed and afterwards followed to the finish line.

At the Isel Arosa, one can already start cross-country skiing in November as part of the «Novemberhoch». This track is also recommended in caso of snowfalls.
