Lombachalp-Loipe
Habkern, Lombachalp-Roteschwand–Habkern, Lombachalp-Roteschwand
A cross-country skiing experience on a snow-sure trail through the unspoilt landscape of one of Switzerland’s largest moorland areas, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery with the Hohgant and Augstmatthorn peaks.
This cross-country trail starts at 1560 m.a.s.l on Lombachalp next to the Jägerstübli Restaurant. The restaurant’s sun terrace invites you to stop for refreshments after your tour. Starting at the car park, the groomed trail makes its way through the idyllic moor landscape nestled between the Hohgant and Augstmatthorn peaks.
The trail leads past gentle mountain streams and ancient spruce and mountain pines towards the Hohgant massif to Alp Nollen and back along the same route, offering skiers changing views of bizarre karst formations and the surrounding mountains. With a little luck, you might even catch a glimpse of a deer or ptarmigan – shy creatures which aren’t normally keen to share the almost eerie silence with strange visitors.
